چکیده
Abstract. In this paper, we classify all the orientable hyperbolic 5-manifolds that arise as a hyperbolic space form H/Γ where Γ is a torsion-free subgroup of minimal index of the congruence two subgroup Γ 2 of the group Γ of positive units of the Lorentzian quadratic form x 1 + · · ·+ x 5 − x 6 . We also show that Γ 2 is a reflection group with respect to a 5-dimensional right-angled convex polytope in H. As an application, we construct a hyperbolic 5-manifold of smallest known volume 7ζ(3)/4.

Small subgroups of SL(3,Z)
The study of representations of the fundamental groups of finite volume hyperbolic surfaces and finite volume hyperbolic 3-manifolds into Lie groups has been long studied. Classical cases such as the case of the Lie groups SL(2,R), SL(2,C) and SU(2) have provided powerful tools to bring to bear in the study of these groups, and the geometry and topology of the manifolds. More recently, this has...
متن کاملNon-integral Toroidal Dehn Surgeries
If we perform a non-trivial Dehn surgery on a hyperbolic knot in the 3-sphere, the result is usually a hyperbolic 3-manifold. However, there are exceptions: there are hyperbolic knots with surgeries that give lens spaces [1], small Seifert fiber spaces [2], [5], [7], [20], and toroidal manifolds, that is, manifolds containing (embedded) incompressible tori [6], [7]. In particular, Eudave-Muñoz ...
متن کاملConstructing hyperbolic manifolds which bound geometrically
Let H denote hyperbolic n-space, that is the unique connected simply connected Riemannian manifold of constant curvature −1. By a hyperbolic n-orbifold we shall mean a quotient H/Γ where Γ is a discrete group of isometries of H. If a hyperbolic n-manifold M is the totally geodesic boundary of a hyperbolic (n+1)-manifold W , we will say that M bounds geometrically. It was shown in [11] that if a...
متن کاملOn the virtual Betti numbers of arithmetic hyperbolic 3--manifolds
An interesting feature of our argument is that although it uses arithmetic in an essential way, it is largely geometric; in particular there is no use of Borel’s theorem [1]. This makes Theorem 1.1 strictly stronger than [1] in this setting, since no congruence assumptions are made. We recall that a group is said to be large if it has a subgroup of finite index which maps onto a free group of r...

We define A-polynomial n-tuple for a link of n-components and apply them to construct hyperbolic link manifolds with non-integral traces.
